730 Does Negative Equity

A brief segment on the ABC today which includes DFA data on negative equity, the Kouk, and reference to the RBA data.

They missed two important points I made in my interview, first my data is households not loans, and second the falls in value should require banks to mark to market their portfolios.

The maps can be seen here. This video walks through the mapping in detail.

  1. – Perhaps 7/30 is going to broadcast the other parts of the interview at a later date ?
    – In this video you referred to an earlier video you made (“Death, Divorce, …….. “). This reminded me of a book one mrs. Elizabeth Warren wrote some 10 years ago called “The Two Income Trap”. In that book she researched why US households are “not in the best of financial shapes”. Mrs. Warren gave in 2007 a speech on (financial) developments for the average US households. But I assume that the same (financial) dynamic is in play in Australia, New Zealand and in other countries around the world.

(the video is about one hour in length and is packed with data).
