Auction Results 11 August 2018

Domain released their preliminary results from today.  The numbers are still down on last year, though the listing volume appears slightly higher this week.  Last week ended up at below 50% nationally, and we suspect the final results this week will be pretty similar. We also note Melbourne seems to be lower than Sydney (as expected as Melbourne trends are running about 6 months behind Sydney).

Adelaide listed 48, and reported 30 sales, with 23 sold, and 1 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance of 74%.

Brisbane listed 76, reported 50 and sold 22 with 2 withdrawn giving a Domain clearance rate of 42%.

Canberra listed 26 and reported 20 with 14 sold and 3 withdrawn giving a Domain 61% clearance.

Auction Results 04 August 2018

More weakness in the results.  Final clearance rates will fall further as usual. Way down on last year.

Melbourne listed 567 auctions, reported 444 of which 256 were sold. 26 were withdrawn. Domain clearance rate was reported as 54.5%.  45.1% of those listed were sold.

Brisbane listed 92 auctions, reported 61, sold 22, 7 were withdrawn giving a Domain clearance rate of 32%. 23.9% of those listed were sold.

Adelaide listed 43 auctions, reported 30, sold 21, 4 were withdrawn giving a Domain clearance of 62%.  48.8% of those listed were sold.

Auction Results 28th July 2018

More evidence of the slowing market in the latest preliminary results from Domain.

For some reason, I did not get the normal alert from them, but went to their source page to calculate the following:

I calculated the true result comparing those sold with those listed.

[UPDATE] The Domain email finally came though on Monday:

The funny numbers continue. See my recent video on the subject.

Sydney Auctions Lowest Since 2012

From CoreLogic.

The final data from CoreLogic shows the weak trends are continuing. Sydney’s final clearance rate dropped to 46.9 per cent last week across 408 auctions, the lowest clearance rate the city has seen since December 2012.

Auction statistics

Last week saw 1,178 homes taken to auction across the combined capital cities, returning a clearance rate of 52.0 per cent after the previous week recorded a clearance rate of 52.6 per cent across 1,411 auctions. Over the same week last year, 1,627 homes were taken to auction and the clearance rate was a stronger 69.4 per cent.

Auction clearance rate

Melbourne’s final clearance rate came in at 56.2 per cent across 559 auctions last week, similar to the previous week when 631 auctions were held and a clearance rate of 56.1 per cent was recorded. This time last year auction volumes were higher across the city with 756 homes going under the hammer returning a clearance rate of 74.9 per cent.

Sydney’s final clearance rate dropped to 46.9 per cent last week across 408 auctions, the lowest clearance rate the city has seen since December 2012. In comparison, 552 auctions were held across Sydney over the previous week returning a clearance rate of 50.1 per cent while this time last year, 609 homes went under the hammer, returning a clearance rate of 69.2 per cent.

Across the smaller auction markets, clearance rates improved everywhere except Brisbane. In terms of volumes, Adelaide was the only city to see an increase with an additional 8 homes taken to auction over the week.

Of the non-capital city markets, the Hunter region recorded a 70.6 per cent final auction clearance rate across 17 results, followed closely by Geelong where 70.4 per cent of the 27 auction results were successful.

Auction Results 14 Jul 2018

Another weak result from Domain as the preliminary auction clearance results are in.

Brisbane listed 57, and 13 were sold. Domain reported a clearance of 37%. Adelaide listed 43, and sold 18, reporting a clearance rate of 56%.  Canberra listed 40 and sold 24 reporting a clearance rate of 67%.

Volumes are down as well, perhaps thanks to the school holidays?  The final clearance rates will settle lower as normal.

Auction Results Continue To Weaken

The preliminary data from Domain is out, and the trends continue lower, with a final rate last week below 50% nationally and continued weakness this time around. Many properties are being withdrawn.

In Sydney, of the 442 listed, 84 were withdrawn, and 179 sold. In Melbourne, 526 were listed, 29 withdrawn and 236 sold. Last year at this time, clearance rates were more than 10% higher, on larger volumes.

Brisbane listed 57, 6 were withdrawn and 17 Sold. Adelaide listed 43, withdrew 1 and sold 13. Canberra listed 47, sold 30 and 3 were withdrawn.

Auction Results 30 June 2018

Domain have released their preliminary auction results for today, and the anemic results are likely to slide further as the final results come in.

Momentum is significant lower than this time last year.

Brisbane listed 62 properties, 35 went to auction and 12 sold, giving a cleared rate of 24%. 14 were withdrawn.

Adelaide listed 52, 32 went to auction and 20 sold, giving a clearance rate of 61%. 1 was withdrawn.

Canberra listed 34, 24 went to auction and 13 sold, giving a clearance rate of 43%. 6 were withdrawn.

Auction Results Higher On Lower Volumes

CoreLogic says the preliminary clearance rate increased to 58.7 per cent this week, after last week saw the final clearance rate revise down to just 52.4 per cent.

Auction volumes were lower over the week with 1,842 homes taken to auction across the combined capital cities, down from 2,002 last week. While the preliminary clearance rate tends to revise lower over the week as the remaining results are captured, the final clearance rate should still show an improvement week-on-week.

Auction statistics

Melbourne was host to 946 auctions over the week, returning a preliminary clearance rate of 62.3 per cent, compared to last week when 56.2 per cent of the 992 auctions were successful. Over the same week last year, there were 1,047 auctions held in Melbourne, returning a clearance rate of 70.7 per cent.

Auction clearance rate

There were 635 auctions held in Sydney this week returning a preliminary auction clearance rate of 55.3 per cent. In comparison, last week there were 708 auctions held and a final clearance rate of 49.4 per cent was recorded, while this time last year, 68.2 per cent of the 939 auctions held were successful.

Auction Results 23 June 2018

Domain has released their preliminary results for today, and volumes look like they are way down. Final results will of course settle lower.

Last weeks final result was a clearance rate of 50%, 15% lower than a year ago. So more evidence of the slowing market.

Today, Sydney reported 516 listed, but 214 sold an 74 withdrawn.  Melbourne listed 821, sold 429 and 21 were withdrawn. Brisbane listed 69, sold 20 and 6 were withdrawn. Adelaide listed 51, sold 24 and 1 was withdrawn. Canberra listed39, sold 22 and 3 were withdrawn.
