Auction Results 3rd November 2018

Domain released their preliminary results (on time), and the low clearance rates continue.  More evidence of the slow-down.

The final clearance rates last week languished in the mid 40’s with the national result sitting  at 43.9%.

The racing weekend meant that Melbourne was a slow day today. The preliminary national result of 43.6% will likely fall further as more results arrive.

Brisbane listed 119 auctions, reported 50 and sold 18, with 9 withdrawn, to give a Domain clearance rate of 31%.

Adelaide listed 87 auctions, reported 50 and sold 31, with 7 withdrawn, to give a Domain clearance rate of 54%.

Canberra listed 95 auctions, reported 79 and sold 38, with 7 withdrawn, to give a Domain clearance rate of 44%.

Auction Results 27 Oct 2018

Belatedly, Domain released their results from last Saturday.

The final results from the previous week looks pretty bad.  Sydney ended at 39.4% (below their 40% scale!). The preliminary results for this week are not much better. Nationally at 49.2% and will likely go lower!

Adelaide listed 84, reported 45 and sold 37, with 7 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance rate of 71%.

Canberra listed 82 and reported 63 with 36 sold and 5 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance of 53%.

Brisbane listed 97 and reported 43 with 22 sold and 6 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance of 45%.

Auction Clearances Crater Today

Domain released their preliminary auction results for today and it appears the tide is receding quickly.

Last week closed out at 46.1% and today’s preliminary was 47.2%, with the continued fall in volumes.

Adelaide listed 73, reported 34 and sold 22 with 8 withdrawn, giving a 52% Domain clearance.

Canberra listed 61, reported 50 and sold 23, with 1 withdrawn, giving a 45% Domain clearance.

Brisbane listed 97 auctions, reported 45 and sold 23 with 6 withdrawn giving a Domain clearance of 45%.

Auction Results 13 Oct 2018

Domain have released their preliminary auction clearance results, and they look pretty shocking with a national clearance of 48.4% on a low volume. No spring uptick in sight!  The final results from last week are also down and well below 50%

Melbourne continues to weaken fast, and large numbers of properties across the country were withdrawn.

Brisbane listed 101, 4 were withdrawn, 59 reported and 21 sold, giving a Domain clearance of 33%.

Adelaide listed 56, 5 were withdrawn, 28 reported and 13 sold, giving a clearance of 39%.

Canberra listed 52, 2 were withdrawn, 41 reposted and 24 sold, giving a clearance of 56%.

Auction Results 06 October 2018

Domain have released their preliminary auction clearance results for today.

Once again the data shows low settlement rates, although the volume is higher this week than the previous holidays weekend. It is much lower than a year ago both in terms of volumes and sales.

Brisbane listed 102, reported 48 and 7 were withdrawn. 17 were sold giving a Domain clearance rate of 31%.

Adelaide listed  65, reported 38 and sold 26. 3 were withdrawn giving a Domain clearance of 63%.

Canberra listed 62, reported 48 and sold 33, with 3 withdrawn, giving a clearance rate of 65%.

Auction Results 29 Sep 2018

Domain have released their preliminary results for today (down of course because of the finals, and long weekend).  So perhaps not that meaningful.

However, momentum continues to slow with preliminary clearance rates sitting well below 50%, and will likely settle lower as more results come in.

Brisbane listed 67, reported 39, 6 were withdrawn giving a Domain clearance rate of 36%.

Adelaide listed 14, reported 8 sold 3. No Domain clearance rate.

Canberra listed 37, reported 21. sold 13 and 1 was withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance rate of 59%.

Auction Results 22 Sept 2018

Domain have released their preliminary auction clearance results for today.

The trend of low clearance rates and volumes continues, with the final result from last week week below 50%, on low volumes, and the preliminary results today also looking pretty sick, and will go lower as the final results come in.

Given Domain’s recent analysis showing the correlation between clearance rates and home prices, with 60% being a watershed below which prices are likely to slide, we can conclude gravity will pull the markets lower!

The results are consistently lower than a year ago.

Brisbane listed 79 auctions, reported 41 and sold 21 with 6 withdrawn giving a Domain clearance of 45%.

Adelaide listed 96, reported 65 and sold 5, with 8 withdrawn giving a Domain clearance of 62%.

Canberra listed 101, reported 65 and sold 41 with 3 withdrawn giving a Domain clearance of 60%.

Auction Results 15 September 2018

Domain released their preliminary auction results for today.

The national clearance rate once again settled last week at around 50%, with Melbourne a little stronger than Sydney, but with a high proportion of properties withdrawn, so little meaning in the lower numbers, when compared with a year ago.

Today’s results also look weak, little sign of a spring bounce as yet.

Brisbane listed 105, reported 56 and sold 26, with 3 withdrawn. Domain estimates a 43% clearance rate.

Adelaide listed 59, reported 33 and sold 20, with 9 withdrawn. Domain estimates a 48% clearance rate.

Canberra listed 73, reported 60 and sold 41, with 2 withdrawn. Domain reported a clearance rate of 66% – the highest in any of the reported centres. Another example of the Canberra bubble?

These will of course all settle lower as more data comes in.

Auction Results 08 Sept 2018

Domain published their preliminary actions clearance results for today, with volumes and clearances still very weak compared with the same time last year.

In addition, the number of reported auctions compared with those listed is very low and the number withdrawn remains high. So to that extent, the measures are relatively meaningless. That said, last week’s final clearance just scraped above 50% (52.1%), higher than the week before.

Brisbane listed 101, reported 57 and sold 26 with three withdrawn. Domains clearance calculation was reported at 43%.  You could argue the true number is closer to 26%!

Adelaide listed 67, reported 35 and sold 20 with 6 withdrawn, Domains clearance calculation was reported at 49%.

Canberra listed 59, reported 48 and sold 31, with 2 withdrawn. Domains clearance calculation was reported at 62%.

A general observation also is sales are significantly concentrated at the lower end of the market.

Auction Results 01 Sept 2018

Domain have released their preliminary results for today, and the story of slower volumes and clearance rates continues unabated.

Of note is that last week the final national clearance rates were 50%, and there was a high count of withdrawals and cancelled auctions. The final results will again settle lower this week.

Brisbane listed 95 auctions, reported 43 and sold 25. 6 were withdrawn, giving a Domain preliminary  clearance of 51%.

Adelaide listed 57 auctions, reported 36 and sold 19. 3 were withdrawn, giving a Domain preliminary  clearance of 49%.
